2015 a year to compile documentations: flyers from pass works with Five Arts Centre, Dramalab and Shakti Dances

My first theater/movement choreography work in a production with Five Arts Centre : Scorpion Orchid (1995) by Lloyd Fernando, directed by Krishen Jit & Joe Hasham. Co-production with The Actors Studio.

The second was The Storyteller (1996) by Jit Murad, directed by Krishen Jit (Five Arts Centre) and Zahim Albakri (Dramalab)
I do not have the flyer copy of documentation of it unfortunately.

Following after the next year I worked with Janet Pillai and Charlene Rajendran (Five Arts Centre) on Rama & Sita: Generasi Baru (1996), directed by Janet Pillai & Charlene Rajendran. Co-production with Dramalab.

In 1998, one more work with Five Arts Center in Family (1998) by Leow Puay Tin, directed by Krishen Jit & Wong Hoy Cheong.

And a flyer from Playground (1999), dance performance devised by Marion D'Cruz & Aida Redza in collaboration with the performers. Co-produced with Shakti Dances.

Programme for Opera Uda dan Dara (2002) by Usman Awang, with music by Adrian Lee and Sunetra Fernando. Directed by Krishen Jit & Joe Hasham. Co-production with The Actors Studio. Aida Redza played Tok Guru.

Where is Aida Redza today?

Aida Redza (from 2009 onwards) will be 9 months of the year in Penang, Malaysia and staying 3 months in Copenhagen with her patner husband Rasmus Kaltoft and son Marjaan Syauqi Redza Kaltoft. As the director of Totalproduktion at http://www.totalproduktion.dk/ Rasmus is a pillar of support in her life and creative endeavours. Maya Ellora Syauquina, her eldest daughter who is living in Malaysia with her father (Aida's ex-husband), is one, out of the many children all over the world suffering from being separated unwillingly away from their mother (or father) due to the misuse of power by insecure parents, and by those insisting to fight for full custody and rights over their child, by discriminating the conduct and maternal/paternal qualities and more, against the mother (or father). A situation such as this will only end with the child becoming the victim when either party cannot resolve their hurt, conflict, mistrust and fears. Just like a war, it is never ending, one bomb leads to another terror in a vicious cycle.

Aida's two cents worth in opinion and concerns,

By accepting, forgiving, starting over and looking past the blames, conflicts and mistakes, parents can realize the love, the joy and the passion they use to share and the blessings they had receive from above, to witness, carry and deliver the birth of a pure creation into the world, during the period of the couples union. They have to accept responsibility for the choices and decisions that they took together before, during and after marriage including the reasons for their differences and struggles leading to the cause and effect of departure and separation. It is important for the emotional, mental and spiritual well being of the child that the parents are able to continue as friends and not in hate and anger as enemies. Pretending and in denial, that their stand is for the best interest and welfare of the child would only end up with the child retaliating against both, in the near future. And there are many cases such as that all over the world.

Being in Copenhagen without Maya is difficult, just as it is for Maya without her mother, especially when denied the rights to share and be a part of her extended family, as she is prohibited from coming to Copenhagen to visit. Aida hopes that the situation will change. As acceptance to changes are signs for a healthy living. But on the positive side Aida prays hard for the best solution.

So that is where Aida has been for the past years, Standing firm and strong with a foot on earth and the other reaching towards heaven, being the best mother for her children, and a soul companion to her husband. And on the side, where is Aida, as the Malaysian artist today?

She is looking forward to her 40's, and living quietly in joy between family and her mission to help others through dance. And moving on towards the next phase of her Expedition OpenCage/Expedisi Buka Sangkar 2009 research. In the beginning of 2009 she worked to assist Gunild Park Symes's (Norden Danse Teater) at the workshop lecture on Dance for the Camera at København Teknik Skole, and supporting Gunild at rehearsals while NDT works with Alex and Chris from the Royal Danish Ballet. In March, Ombak-Ombak ArtsStudio and Aida was seen presenting Fly Jentayu Fly at the Women International Day 2009 at Gurney Plaza, Penang. From April - June 09, Aida with suppport from BOLD Penang conducted (DaD) Dream a Dream - a creative arts project for young people with different needs at Disted College, in collaboration with Priscilla Ho, a Children Play Therapist. In May 09, Aida worked collaboratively with a team of outstanding KL dance performers for the opening choreography in the Light Design Show in Kuala Lumpur. Back in Copenhagen, July/August, Aida was seen in Blind Spot at the recent Metropolis Biennale - Kobenhavn International Theater Festival 09 and Malaysia UnCut Festival, followed by a duet with Raymond Roa at the Danish Film Institute in September 09.

On the quiet side of Penang, Aida has been busy working with Ombak-Ombak Arts Studio in presenting; Suara Gerak - A choreographer workshop in October, Ko-tai Penang in Dec 2010.

In 2008, she completed her Post-Graduate Degree at Codarts, Rotterdam, and began to work actively with Ombak-Ombak Arts Studio in Penang.

All this without the support and understanding of her family, husband, children and friends, in Malaysia and Copenhagen, and the unconditional love and her dedication towards the well being of her children and respect she has for all, Aida can never be who she is nor achieved what she has achieved today as a mother - artist.
